Petersen Engineering has recently been awarded engineering
contracts for the design of gas gathering systems for three separate clients.
Two projects are located in Western Pennsylvania and the third one is located
in Northeastern West Virginia.
One of the projects in Pennsylvania involves
the design of the gathering system for a new grass-roots storage field with a
maximum pressure of 3,500 psig. The main header will be 20" and the
lines to the wells will be 8". Each well will have a meter skid that
will be connected to a SCADA system. The design work will also include a
22-mile 24" delivery line.
The gathering project in Western Pennsylvania was for a 12" high pressure
main header in the Marcellus Shale. This header would collect the gas from a
series of compressors that were fed by 5-10 wells. The header terminated at a
new gas plant. All of the design work is in compliance with DOT Part 192.
The third project is also in
the Marcellus Shale in Northeastern West Virginia.
This project involves 5 wells flowing to a gas compressor and delivery
facility. The gas then flows through a new 12 mile 12 inch pipeline. PEI is providing
design and engineering for the gathering line and sales gas line. This
includes sizing of the lines along with the launchers and receivers and the
alignment sheets for all of the lines. PEI
is also providing permit inventory and assistance.
